IPSWICH have appointed locally-based Leigh Lanham as their new captain on his return to the club this year.Lanham skippered Lakeside to the Elite League Grand Final last season after Adam Shields was injured.Ipswich boss Pete Simmons said: "Leigh is the most experienced rider in the side, and the eldest. He has no foreign commitments, is English and lives locally."

EDINBURGH star Thomas H Jonasson says he will be better-prepared for his British meetings in 2009.The Swede will also be taking outings in the Elite League for Belle Vue and is happy with his racing calendar.Jonasson said: "I won't be riding in Sweden on Thursdays, so I can get to the UK earlier than I did before. It was no good when I was only getting three hours' sleep."
