World champion team continues preparation for the new season

This Wednesday Tiago Monteiro was at the Circuit of Catalunya in Barcelona, where he took an active part in SEAT Sport's preparation for the upcoming 2009 FIA WTCC World Championship. The Portuguese driver was busy pounding the tarmac with his team ahead of the season opener which will take place in Curitiba (Brazil) in three weeks time.

In preparation for this event, SEAT organized an intense working program in order to be properly equipped so that they can defend their world championships in both the drivers and constructors classification.

The results obtained in Barcelona filled Tiago Monteiro with confidence: "The session was good and the day was very profitable. I was able to cover a great number of laps that helped us to find solutions for the coming season. In particular, we worked on the suspension and its geometry. The start of the season is near and we have to work hard to make sure we will be competitive in Curitiba. We know it won't be easy for SEAT with the new rules, but last year we showed that we have the potential to win and to win the championships once again this year will be our aim."

After Estoril (Portugal) and Valencia (Spain) testing sessions, the one in Barcelona was crucial to strengthen the SEAT Sport project for 2009. From March 6 to 8, Tiago Monteiro and SEAT Sport will be in Curitiba for the opening off the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
