Tom P. Madsen Testimonial

RIDERS FACING DOUBLE TROUBLE AT MADSEN TESTIMONIAL

RIDERS competing in Tom P. Madsen’s Testimonial at King’s Lynn next month will have double the reason not to step out of line. In a ground-breaking move Madsen will be using two referees to officiate his meeting at the Norfolk Arena on Friday, March 20. Jim Lawrence and Mick Bates will be in charge on the night, with one of them in the usual position in the box and the other on the centre green in radio contact keeping a closer eye on proceedings. Madsen explained his thinking behind the idea.

He said: “This is something that should be introduced anyway as I think it would solve a lot of problems. The referee has a very difficult job to do trying to make the correct decision if anything happens on the track.“Using this method, for example, one referee could watch the front two riders and the other could keep an eye on the riders in third and fourth place.

It’ll be even more beneficial if the riders are spread out in a race.“I’m happy they’ve both agreed to work on my meeting as I was always lookingto do something different.“In my opinion they are the best two referees in the business so it’s greatto have them onboard.”Meanwhile, two more names have been added to the line-up with Swindon’sSimon Stead and King’s Lynn favourite Tomas Topinka the latest to give theirbacking to the popular Dane.Madsen said: “I’ve known Tomas from when we rode for the Stars together fora couple of years and he is very much Mr. King’s Lynn in the supporters’eyes.

“I also rode with Steady at Belle Vue in 2006 and he is a true racer. Ibelieve he will be very entertaining.“Both are very good additions to the line-up and I thank them for acceptingthe bookings.“The line-up is very nearly complete now and we have just a few more namesto announce.“We’ve worked hard to assemble a strong line-up and I’m sure it’ll be anentertaining evening.

The riders will do their bit on the track and I’vealso got a couple of good guys keeping things going off the track.“I have in my opinion two of the best microphone people in Kevin Long and Paul Hunsdon. Kevin’s presented at Ipswich and Mildenhall and Paul has been entertaining the fans at Reading the past few years with his own unique style of humour.

“I believe these guys can make a meeting, so fingers crossed people will go home having had a great night.”People are reminded that there are still a few sponsorship packages available.
