Sauber lands new sponsor

FxPro, the forex broker, has secured a sponsorship deal with the BMW Sauber Formula One Team ahead of the 2009 season, which starts in Australia at the end of the month. BMW Sauber are third favourites, behind giants Ferrari and McLaren, to win the Formula One Constructors Championship, while the team’s drivers, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, secured third and sixth place in the Drivers’ Championship.

FxPro, an online forex broker specialising in currency pairs, stocks, futures and precious metals, will have its logo displayed on the drivers’ overalls and helmets, as well as on the front wing and side mirrors of the BMW Sauber cars and on pit-lane equipment. The deal is believed to be part of a wider package between FxPro and BMW, and expected to be partly trade support based.

“We are delighted about our new collaboration with FxPro,“ said BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen. “Particularly in economically challenging times such as the present, it is a great achievement for our BMW Sauber F1 Team and for Formula One to have gained another strong partner.“

Ilya Holeu, Marketing Manager of FxPro, said: “In Formula One we see an ideal platform and in BMW the perfect partner to collaborate with at a global level, and at the same time present ourselves in a perfect environment. Internationalism, dynamism and high-tech are attributes of Formula One that seem tailor-made to match FxPro.“
