OLLIE MILLROY TOPS THE TIMES AT OFFICIAL MONZA TEST

British teenage racing driver Ollie Millroy has made a strong start to the 2009 race season topping the times at the second official Formula BMW test, on one of the fastest and most famous Grand Prix circuits in the world. The test took place at the Italian race track at Monza which has hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix every year, baring one, since 1950 and is a firm favorite of most of the young drivers who drive it, including Ollie

At the two day test the British MSA Race Elite Academy driver and 2008 BMW junior development driver posted the two quickest laps of the 26 drivers with a time of 1.59.080 and consistently ran in the top three on both days, establishing himself as a strong contender and one of the favorites for the 2009 championship.

"We've had another very strong two day test," says Ollie, "Considering this is the first season my new race engineer Paul South has engineered a Formula BMW car we have made a good solid start. The car feels quick, it's good to drive and Paul is great to work with. On the first day I also had 2008 GP2 champion and ex Formula 1 driver Giorgio Pantano working with me and no one knows their way around Monza better than he does. The whole ‘Motaworld Racing’ team are working really well together, there is a good atmosphere and we are all confident that we will get stronger before the first race at Barcelona in May."

The lap times appear to be much closer this year and at one point there was only one second seperating 20 cars so we are happy to be the quickest, but we've got more to come. The team are confident we will be at the sharp end this year looking for wins and so am I."The next official Formula BMW test is on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on the 18th – 19th March.
