Maximum WTCC attack from Monteiro

Tiago Monteiro wants to win in Mexico, again!

Next weekend will see the FIA World Touring Car Championship undergo the second event of the new 2009 season, this time in Mexico! Tiago Monteiro has packed his bags and is ready to return to the scene of his 2008 victory, the Portuguese driver poised to repeat history! Armed with the potential of the SEAT Leon TDI, Tiago is eager to taste victory once again on the Puebla circuit and knows that success will be obtained by rigorous management of his tyres and a strong qualifying session. "Puebla is a demanding track because the track temperature is generally very high and the asphalt is abrasive. As a consequence, the tyres are at their best for one or two laps only. It is a track which can give the León TDI a slight advantage because of its altitude, but it won't be enough to make the entire difference. The competition is fierce and a small mishap is enough to ruin your qualifying or even your race. I have excellent memories of Puebla because it was there that I secured my maiden win in the FIA WTCC and I will do my best to double it up this year! I know it will be very important to score points in Mexico in order to have the possibility of thinking about the championship. Things went wrong in Brazil but I'm confident for Mexico and the only favour I would ask would be to stay away from unpleasant surprises!" Tiago Monteiro is hoping to contribute to the continuation of SEAT's supremacy as with two wins in Brazil, the team has started its constructor's title defence in the best possible way despite the new rules making things harder. The third and fourth FIA WTCC races will take place in Puebla, Mexico, from March 20 to 22. Weather forecasts are for a clear sky and a maximum temperature of 22°C. As usual, the FIA WTCC will be broadcasted on Eurosport, qualifying on Saturday at 10 PM and the races at 5:45 and 9:30PM UK Time.
