Fords Food City 500 Post-Race Quotes

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 39th) – “Something happened in the engine. I would have never thought you’d have engine trouble at Bristol. It never crossed my mind. We were running along and I think we were 11th, but we had a top 10 sewn up, I think, easy, and may have even had a better car than that. I was kind of riding around waiting to get to the end. You’ve got to get to the end before you can race. I had a couple of close calls, but the car was running good and the guys were doing a great job. It’s just so disappointing. They were worried about whether I was gonna be able to make the whole race and the engine failed. It’s probably something in the valvetrain, I would imagine. That’s typically what happens when it drops a cylinder like that and then when I was getting ready for the restart parts were chunking around on the inside of it, so I had to stop. It was starting to oil the track, I’m sure, so it’s unfortunate.”

HOW ARE YOUR RIBS AND HOW WERE THEY DURING THE RACE? “I feel pretty good. It’s just a matter of getting stretched out. I feel better now than I have all weekend. I’m sure if you ask me tomorrow, I’m gonna be in a tremendous amount of pain I promise you, but there’s no problem at all driving the car. No problem at all.”DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Finished 27th) – “It was just a real long day. You know that first run we picked up about 10 or 15 spots, and I felt like our UPS car was going to be good. But from there on, we just struggled getting off of the corner all day. We made a lot of adjustments just trying to get the rear-end hooked up. Our UPS pit crew did a good job on pit road and we picked up spots, but when you get a lap down and you’re always back in traffic, and your car isn’t always perfect, it’s tough. It was just one of those days. This was the fastest 500-lap race that I’ve ever been a part of. We just weren’t good in the beginning and we got behind and then we didn’t have time to get any better. And we needed a good run going into Martinsville to get some points bac, but, going into next week, we’ve really got to get a top 10.”MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Finished 33rd) – “Obviously it was a bad day. We ran like junk in the beginning and then some of those guys got track position and we were buried in the back. I got loose and hit the wall a little bit, but Kyle Busch’s right-front looked worse than mine, so I can’t believe that hurt it too bad. We just missed it by about four miles all day.”TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 Golden Corral Ford Fusion (Finished 18th) – “I know some other guys had some trouble, but I thought we were gonna finish around 10th or 12th there for awhile. I had a really good car. On one run I just got my car too tight and lost us a bunch of track position. We kind of ran out of time and couldn’t get our lap back. I’m just proud of my guys. I just hate it that we’ve had top-15 or top-20 cars or so every week and, except for a couple of races, we’ve had horrible luck and haven’t got the results. It’s unfortunate. Right now, Martinsville is questionable.  Hopefully in the next 24 hours something great happens to this team. That’s all we can pray for.”

YOU HAD A BATTLE WITH KYLE THERE AT ONE POINT. “Today we weren’t laying over for anybody. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain, so I raced 110 percent every lap. It was frustrating. I hate it for Kyle. I’m sure he was frustrated and wanted to just wreck me, but he did a great job of racing me clean. Who knows? If the caution would have come out, we would have stayed on the lead lap and we could have finished four or five spots higher at the end of the day. Like I say, we didn’t have anything to lose and everything to gain. We didn’t lay over for anybody today.”BOBBY LABONTE – No. 96 Ask.com Ford Fusion (Finished 22nd) – “We were just too tight in the center all day and everytime we tried to make it turn it would lose forward bite. We just had to live with it being tight, but we’ve been that way ever since we got here so we just have to figure out how to make it turn.”
