Two KONI Sports Car Teams Penalized

For Rule Infractions At Homestead-Miami Speedway

Grand-Am Road Racing announced today penalties and fines to two KONI Sports Car Challenge teams, including the Grand Sport race-winning team and drivers, as a result of rule infractions following the Grand-Am Fan Appreciation Weekend March 15 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

            The race-winning No. 18 Motorsport Technology Group Porsche 997 and No. 77 Maxwell Paper Racing Porsche 997 were found to have violated engine rules during post-race inspection.

            The No. 18 car and co-drivers Billy Johnson and Peter Ludwig were stripped of all 35 of their points and all prize money, and the team was fined $2,500 for the violations. Porsche also lost its first-place points toward the manufacturer championship. The No. 77 car and co-drivers Andrew Davis and Daniel DiLeo were penalized five points and the team was fined $1,000 as a result of the infraction.

            The next KONI Sports Car Challenge race is May 2 at Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park (SPEED, 12 p.m. ET on May 9) in Millville, N.J.
