IN RACE 2 AT BRANDS HATCH
Glynn Geddie claimed 5th place in an eventful Race 2 in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch but was the first of the Pro-Am 1 drivers to cross the line.
The Scot, from Aberdeen, started this afternoon's race in 5th position on the grid and held it as the lights went green for the first lap. Lap two saw drama unfold as Geddie dived on the inside of Team Parker Racing team mate Tom Bradshaw on the entrance to Clearways. The pair made contact and an unfortunate Bradshaw ended up in the Clearways gravel trap as Geddie collected it up, albeit losing four places and ending up in 9th before the safety car was deployed.
Once the lights of the safety car were out and it peeled into the pits, Geddie held onto the tail of Tony Gilham as the pair diced for a number of laps before the Apex Tubulars-backed number 8 car of Geddie got by and pulled away.
Geddie then put in some hot lap times and crowded the mirrors of fellow Pro-Am 1 competitor Ol! iver Jackson as the pair battled in a classic dogfight which, at one point, saw Geddie enter Clearways sideways, which was neatly and calmly gathered up.
By the end of the 34 lap race Geddie had clawed his way to a respectable 5th place overall and took home the silverware for the Pro-Am 1 spoils while Tim Bridgman took his second overall victory of the weekend.
Glynn Geddie:"First of all I would like to say sorry for the incident with Tom (Bradshaw). As we came into Clearways the gap was there but then we touched. It was an unfortunate clash which is just racing I guess.
"Aside from that, although yesterday was a challenging day for us, I'm thrilled to have taken the Pro-Am 1 win, so it was great to end the weekend on a high.
"A big thank you has to go to Apex Tubulars, Bishopston Enterprises and Barry Horne who have all given me tremendous, invaluable support, and I hope I can put smiles on their faces as we head ! for Thruxton."

It's always a bitter pill to swallow when not all your cars finish the race but to echo what Glynn said, that's racing and these things happen.
"It's good to get back racing after the winter and we hope that we can retain our form at Thruxton."
The Porsche Carrera Cup GB will be out in action again at Thruxton in Hampshire on the 24-26 April and if the season opener this weekend was anything to go by, will be sure to provide the spectators with more action-packed, close racing.
