Afanasiev returns to Formula Master

WITH JD MOTORSPORT, LUKOIL AND RED BULL

Reigning International Formula Master (IFM) Champion, JD Motorsport has announced its full driver line-up for 2009 with the confirmation of Russian Sergey Afanasiev.

The young racer returns to the IFM Series with team JD Motorsport for the second year running, and will partner Bulgaria's Vladimir Arabadzhiev and Czech Josef Kral.

Afanasiev, who claimed a win in Pau last season, will be supported once again by the LUKOIL Driver's Support Program as well as a new collaboration with Red Bull.

"We're happy to have Sergey in our team again," said JD Motorsport Team Principal Roberto Cavallari. "We look forward to continuing the good work we did last year with him and his management, the LUKOIL Driver's Support Program, as well as with Red Bull.

"It's an important group, with presence in the best motorsport series throughout the world, and supporting so many young professional drivers. We look forward to repeating the success we had on our previous Red Bull partnering, with Christian Klein.

"2009 is set to be a very good year for Formula Master. With the reliability achieved in 2008 and the technical advancements we have already seen in testing, this season will be extremely competitive. Combined with the strong media levels and its live broadcast on Eurosport, IFM offers drivers a great training ground for developing their skills on the way to GP2 and Formula 1."
