to the site of his first Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series victory this week.

 The Summit, N.J., driver topped the GT class at Virginia International Raceway in 2007. He will be looking for another strong finish on Saturday, driving the No. 30 Marquis Jet Mazda RX-8 with Dane Cameron of Sonoma, Calif. The race will be Miller's first with Racers Edge Motorsports, a team he has been watching for several years.

“This package makes us a formidable contender for points," Miller said. "I always had my eye on this team. The pace of the Racers Edge Mazda has been demonstrated and their preparation consistently proven. Jon [Mirachi, team owner] and I had lightly entertained the idea of a drive over the last couple of seasons, but this time around our discussions segued into serious negotiations.”

The team and drivers synched quickly at a series test at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida last month. Miller recorded the second-fastest GT lap on the first day, during his first stint in the Mazda.

“I’ve only logged a few hours in the Mazda at the official Grand-Am Homestead test. We posted the second fastest time in my first-ever 10 laps in a car I’m still learning about. That is certainly a testament to the team’s development that they could roll out such a strong baseline setup I could be comfortable with, " Miller noted.

“I am excited for VIR – it is where I had my first Grand-Am Rolex victory and I know we will be able to compete with Racers Edge standing behind Dane and me.”

The long 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Va., should suit the Mazda: When Miller's Porsche took the checkered flag in 2007, a Mazda followed in second place.

“We should do well with the Mazda at VIR," Miller said. "I enjoy the rhythm of the track and all the different combinations of turns and speed it offers. I imagine gearing and tire preservation will be very important for the rotary engine and the smaller tires allocated to the Mazda.”
