Ritter Confirms Ginetta G50 Deal

Danish racer Joachim Ritter has agreed to extend his current Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup deal with Total Control Racing until the end of the 2009 season after enjoying a solid debut outing with the team at Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire this past weekend.

The 37-year-old, who is based in Switzerland, approached the Wednesbury-based squad after the opening three rounds of the season at Brands Hatch in Kent at the start of the month and is now set to see out the rest of the campaign – the squad’s first in G50 Cup – as a TCR driver.

“We’re obviously very pleased Joachim has signed to run with us for the rest of the season, we enjoyed working with him for the first time at Thruxton over the weekend and we’re confident we can help him move up the order as the year progresses”, said team principal Lee Brookes.

“It’s great to have expanded to three cars so early in only our first season in the championship and it’s been a dream start for us with Carl (Breeze) winning four of the first six races and Fulvio (Mussi) right up there in the top five of the points table too. We’re really looking forward to Donington.”

The seventh, eighth and ninth rounds of the 2009 Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup are scheduled to take place at Leicestershire’s Donington Park over the weekend 16th/17th May.

TCR’s ELF Renault Clio Cup team, meanwhile, will next be in action at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire on Thursday, 7th May, for an official championship test session. From there, they too will head to Donington’s National Circuit for the fifth and sixth rounds of the Clio Cup series.

Provisional 2009 Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup Standings (after Rd6):1st Carl Breeze, 201pts; 5th Fulvio Mussi, 106pts; 13th Joachim Ritter, 52pts
