The John Danby Racing run Sixth Sense-ESP Honda NSX made a successful debut at the weekend’s Britcar ‘Into the Night’ race at Brands Hatch in Kent
The unique Honda NSX made its racing debut in the hands of owner David Fenn and guest driver Vicki Butler-Henderson at the final round of the popular Britcar Production Championship.
Showing an impressive turn of speed the newly completed Honda NSX qualified 2nd in class and 10th overall around the tight Brands Hatch Indy circuit. With David Fenn at the wheel the John Danby run NSX was a mere three tenths of a second behind the Barwell Motorsport Honda Integra Type-R.
During an exciting race which saw motoring journalist and TV personality Vicki Butler-Henderson take the start, the unique Honda NSX made a promising racing debut coming home in an excellent 2nd in class and 7th place overall.
“It is very pleasing that a car so early in its development should be as competitive as we are. We are very much looking forward to 2010 following a winter development programme which will focus on making the Honda a winning package,” says John Danby, Team Principal.
The Honda then also entered the evening Britcar GT race with David Fenn and John Danby Racing regular James Barclay. Barclay started the race and handed over to Fenn who brought the car home 4th in class.
“Choosing to compete in the Britcar GT race has shown the Honda to not only have impressive speed but also strong reliability which will make this the basis of a great endurance race car,” said Danby.
John Danby Racing enjoyed further success with their Lotus Motorsport Elise which claimed an impressive pole position in the hands of sportscar racer James Barclay. A sixth place finish for the fast Lotus ensured second place in the 2009 Britcar Production Championship for regular father and son pairing of David and Robert Fenn
