MSA British Long Circuit Kart Championship

Round 5: Thruxton, 3 September

Paul Platt leapt into the championship lead with two well judged wins at Thruxton, where all competitors carried the number 42 on their superkarts as a mark of respect to the late Karting Guru Martin Hines.

Platt took pole position for race one but fell to fourth at the start. However, he was soon on the tail of reigning champion Jason Dredge, with whom he battled until the latter retired with a broken chain. Platt backed off over the remaining laps before securing victory.

In race two Platt made a perfect start and went on to seal another win, despite an overheating engine. Louis Wall followed him home in second while the final podium place went to Dredge, who charged his way there from the back of the grid.
