Morris On Verge Of Ginetta Junior Championship Ahead Of Brands GP Races‏

Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit hosts the penultimate two rounds of the 2011 Ginetta Junior Championship next weekend, 1st/2nd October, where Seb Morris will be aiming to seal his second car racing title with at least two races to spare. All year, the Marford teenager has been the driver to beat and has led the way since the opening two rounds which also took place at Brands Hatch - albeit on the shorter Indy Circuit. Racking up win after win, Seb's total now stands at 11 victories for the season and should he attain a 12th success in the first of next weekend's two races he does have a chance of wrapping up the title there and then.

On overall scores, the 15-year-old's closest challenger is Charlie Robertson some 131 points adrift but when the category's double 'drop score' ruling comes into play Seb's attention turns to George Gamble who moves up into the runner-up position, within 105 points of the Hillspeed star. But even though there are just two events remaining on the championship calendar, there are still a massive 148 points up for grabs to any one driver - meaning Seb can't, and won't, rest on his laurels as anything at all could happen at Brands Hatch."We're getting closer and closer to sealing the championship and it could happen at Brands", said The King's School, Chester pupil, "But until it's properly in the bag we're not taking anything at all for granted, we'll be working with the same approach we have all year - get the best set-up we can with the car, focus on qualifying as high up the order as we can and then put together two strong races."Since taking his first ever podium towards the tail end of the 2010 Ginetta Junior Championship, Seb has been a driver to watch. After sealing last year's Ginetta Junior Winter Series crown his sole focus was to return to the main Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship-supporting series and add that title to his CV. That dream is extremely close to becoming a reality. It's not all been plain sailing this year for the Liberty Properties and Legat Owen-backed driver though and the season has brought some challenges. But his determination, skill and raw speed have shone through at all times enabling Seb to build such a substantial advantage in the standings."It has been an incredible season", he added, "The team has worked really hard and hopefully all of our hard work will pay off at Brands Hatch next weekend."As usual, pre-event practice will take place at Brands Hatch GP Circuit on Friday, 30th September, with qualifying and the first race of the weekend, round 17, taking place on Saturday, 1st October, at 12.00 and 17.05 respectively.Round 18 is scheduled for 12.10 on Sunday, 2nd October and will be screened live on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4 and in High Definition on ITV4 HD. Sunday's action will also be streamed live online at itv.com/touringcars
