Head-to-head showdown spectacular set for all-new live showLegendary machinery from Mini, Jaguar & Ford in new vs old challenge
Top Gear Live will be hosting an enviable mix of motoring madness, as Generation Drag Racing comes to Birmingham’s NEC and London ExCeL next month.
New for this year, the hottest show in town hosts its first drag racing event, in which past greats and current favourites go head-to-head in the indoor arena.
British sixties icon, the Mini Cooper Mk1, takes on its modern day equivalent, the John Cooper Mini, while the legendary Hyper Jaguar supercar, the XJ220, which boasts a top speed of 223mph, goes up against today’s ultimate ‘Big Cat’, the XKR-S.
The action-packed event will also witness British sportscar manufacture Noble pit two of its iconic super cars against one another - the awesome Noble M400, capable of 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, and the marque’s current rocket ship the M600, which has a recorded 0-62 time of 3.5 seconds.
Ford fans will not be left disappointed, as furious action comes in the form of Jeremy Clarkson’s former 2-litre, turbo-charged Ford Escort RS Cosworth throwing down the gauntlet to the Blue Oval’s current 300bhp MkII Focus RS.
Billed as ‘The ultimate Top Gear experience’, visitors to this year’s all-new event can expect all the on-screen, supercharged excitement of the TV show rolled into one event, with the famous presenting trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May previously seen in the TopGearLive action arena now spilling out into the rest of the event.
At the centre of the new format is the new Top Gear indoor racetrack featuring highlights from the TV show, including Stig power laps and the ‘Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car’ feature, as well as the Top Gear Stunt Team, head-to-heads and supercar parades.
As well as the 60-minute Live Action Arena with the three presenters, visitors will get a double dose of action, with a separate 80-minute spectacular on the indoor track.
