Max Chilton to take part in further F1 testing

Max Chilton will take part in the Formula One young drivers test in Abu Dhabi later this month with the Sahara Force India Formula 1 Team. Chilton, who already has previous experience in the team’s 2011 F1 car, will get behind the wheel on the 15th and 17th of November.

Chilton, who has spent the 2011 season competing in the prestigious GP2 Series with British race team Carlin, tested the Sahara Force India car in September in the UK, during a straight line test at Kemble. Despite the limited nature of the test, the outing still provided a great chance for Chilton to get to know the team and the car – with the British youngster providing some helpful feedback to the Northamptonshire team ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Chilton makes a return to Force India in mid-November as he lines up for the F1 Young Driver test which provides an opportunity for younger drivers to test F1 machinery in a multitude of scenarios from race simulation to fast qualifying laps. The 20 year-old Brit will also benefit from his previous experience around the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, having raced there during the GP2 and GP2 Asia series.

Looking ahead to the test Max Chilton said, “I can’t wait to get back in the car in Abu Dhabi. I’ve spent time with the team already so I’ve got a feel for the way they work and I hope I can get up to speed quickly. Abu Dhabi is a track I’ve raced at a few times in GP2 so that will help. It’s a big opportunity for me and I just want to enjoy the experience and take in as much as I can.”

The young driver test takes place on the 15th-17th November at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
