MSA Academy selection delights Morris

Highly rated motor racing star Seb Morris continues to enjoy the fruits of his championship success in Ginetta Junior after being selected as one of the newest members of the prestigious MSA (Motor Sports Association) Academy – one of the British motorsport governing body’s flagship schemes.Announced at the annual Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC on Friday, 13th January, the 16-year-old is one of only 10 circuit racers invited to join the programme which is intended to give aspiring professional drivers access to top-line coaching from MSA experts. As he prepares to make the switch from the closed-wheel, sportscar style action of Ginetta Junior to a career in single-seaters, Marford-based Seb is delighted to have received the honour and intends to make the most of being part of the MSA Academy.“Being selected by the MSA is a great way to begin 2012, it’s a fantastic opportunity and can only be good for my career as we move up the ladder”, said the Welshman, “I know the advice the coaches offer is invaluable and it really is a huge honour and a privilege to have been invited to be part of the MSA Academy. This only gives me even more confidence ahead of my move into single-seaters.”Also taking place in Birmingham on Friday was the Ginetta Awards evening where Seb received the champion’s trophy he earned during a dominant Ginetta Junior campaign last year. Off the back of winning the Winter Series in November 2010, The King’s School, Chester GCSE pupil shot into an early lead in the main 2011 title race and was never realistically challenged.Putting together an enviable record of 11 wins from 20 races, a tally of 16 podiums in total, Seb made the championship his own in only his second season of car racing action. His efforts were then rewarded by the Welsh Racing Drivers Association who named the teenager the WRDA Welsh Young Driver of the Year.Plans for the 2012 motorsport season are still being discussed and finalised although the intention is for Seb to compete in Formula Renault.
