Nasr ready for the Rolex 24

Next weekend sees the Rolex 24 At Daytona take place – which this year will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. For Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge winner and British Formula 3 Champion Felipe Nasr, it marks the chance of a lifetime.Nasr will be taking part in the Rolex 24 with one of the top teams in a Daytona Prototype – the pinnacle part of his prize after winning the Sunoco Daytona Challenge. Felipe not only won a seat in this prestigious race but has also undertaken two test sessions in Daytona where he stunned the Americans by being one of the fastest men on the track.

Felipe will be racing at the world famous 24 hour endurance race with the Michael Shank Racing team (MSR) in their No.6 DP. Felipe will join three other drivers in his assault to make his mark in America – NASCAR pilot and GRAND-AM race winner Michael McDowell (USA), Jorge Goncalvez (Venezuela) and Gustavo Yacaman (Columbia) - who are both also making their Rolex Sports Car Series debut.In the lead up to the race Nasr has been putting in a lot of preparation to make sure he is mentally and physically ready for the famous endurance race.“I am really looking forward to the race and am taking the preparation very seriously as I know it will be like nothing I have ever done before,” said Nasr. “In the meantime I will get myself prepared by working out in the gym and doing some simulator work to get more practice on the layout of the track.”Team owner, Mike Shank is feeling confident about the line up for the race: “I’m very excited about the race for the #6 car this year. This group of drivers has very good chances of doing very well in the race. We are taking extra precautions during the preparation of this car to make sure they are in the position to win the race. I expect to see Felipe lapping at the same pace as the leaders or better. He is that good..."This year you can watch the race live on Motors TV, sky channel 413.
