Race2Recovery back in ‘force’ at Rallyday 2012

Rallyday is delighted to confirm that the Race2Recovery team, comprised primarily of injured service personnel, will return to the UK’s premier rally car show at Castle Combe Circuit this year on Saturday August 18.Race2Recovery, which officially launched its campaign earlier this month to become the first predominantly disabled team to contest the gruelling Dakar Rally in 2013, plans to demonstrate its Qt Wildcats at the event in the action-packed Cooper Tires 4x4 Rally Raid zone. The team will be offering white-knuckle rides in Qt Wildcats with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes - Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre at Tedworth House.Race2Recovery driver Captain Tony Harris of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers commented: “We are hugely proud to announce that we will be running the amazing Qt Wildcats at Rallyday for the second year running and again members of the public have been invited to join the team by racing along inside the car on the Castle Combe Circuit 4x4 track with the drivers of Race2Recovery.”Warrant Officer Andrew ‘Pav’ Taylor - Race2Recovery Team Manager added: “Since members of the team appeared in BBC's Top Gear in 2011 we have competed in the UK and internationally as well as raising money for the Help for Heroes Tedworth House Project to help our colleagues and their families recovering from life changing injuries. With HRH the Duke of Kent KG, ex-Stig Ben Collins and numerous key sponsors backing us, we are well on course to reach our goal of completing the infamous Dakar Rally in January 2013.”The attendance of the Race2Recovery team is a further boost for the dedicated 4x4 Rally Raid Zone, which was formally added to the successful Rallyday mix for the first time last year, and follows on from confirmation at the start of February that Cooper Tires will be the headline sponsor of the 4x4 area after the signing of a three-year sponsorship agreement.Sarah McRoberts, Marketing Communications Manager for Cooper Tire, commented: “We’re really looking forward to our partnership with Rallyday. It’s a great and increasingly popular event among our clients and it provides us with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of our Cooper 4x4 range and also meet many of the enthusiasts that rely on our products.”Rallyday organisers, Brian Stubbings and Darin Frow meanwhile are both delighted with how the dedicated 4x4 Rally Raid Zone continues to evolve and they are as committed as ever to making Rallyday a success.Stubbings stated: “This three-year sponsorship deal between Cooper Tires and Rallyday has excellent potential for both companies. The live action demonstration possibilities at the show featuring the incredible Qt Wildcats, among other high-spec, off-road machinery, gives spectators, attending clubs and competitors the chance to see Cooper’s products in action on a live rally stage. The additional backing for the event enables us to further evolve our 4x4 Rally Raid Zone and get Rallyday firmly established in the 4x4 calendar. It’s great to have the Race2Recovery team return to the show this year. These guys are an inspiration to many, many people and we are committed to help them succeed in their ambitious mission to conquer Dakar 2013.”Frow added: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome the Race2Recovery team back driving their Qt Services prepared Wildcats.  They’re an incredible bunch of guys and it was the undeniable highlight of the 4x4 Zone at Rallyday last year – we can’t wait to see them in action again and help them raise more money for their very worthy charity. Having an international – and local – company such as Cooper Tires sponsoring the 4x4 Raid Zone is also a great boost for the event and we’re looking forward to working with them to create an even more entertaining 4x4 area for all the 4x4 clubs, teams and spectators!”Rallyday has run annually now since the inaugural show in 2001 and it attracts a loyal and strong following. The day offers fans the chance to get close to a range of rally machines and drivers, both past and present, in a series of spectacular displays and demonstrations. Vehicles from the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Dakar series and also from grassroots rallying clubs all feature. Previous stars at Rallyday include some of the biggest names in the sport, from the late Colin McRae and the late Richard Burns, to Jari-Matti Latvala, Mikko Hirvonen, Kris Meeke, Ari Vatanen, Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola, David Richards and many, many more.Tickets for Rallyday 2012 are fantastic value with advance tickets booked online before July 30th priced at just £13 for adults and accompanied children under 16 go FREE.
