Masters Historic Racing is gearing up for its first European festival of 2012 at the famous Circuit de Montmelo, home of the in Barcelona Grand Prix.Masters Historic Racing will again provide the historic racing content for the Catalunya Classic Revival, to be run over the weekend of April 20-22.  This will be the second running of the event, and it will be the first major historic event of 2012.GP Masters will feature in two 25-minute races, last year dominated by the Brabham BT49s of Christian Glaesel and local hero Joaquin Folch, while World Sportscar Masters will showcase the late 1960s two-seater sports racing cars in a 60-minute enduro with mandatory pit stops. A huge field of Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT cars will take centre stage for a two-hour race on Saturday evening, while the rejuvenated 70s Celebration class, for touring cars, saloons and sports cars of the 1970s, will have two 25-minute races on Sunday.The popular Pre-66 Touring Cars will be in action as will the CanAm Interserie Challenge, the first time that the Masters Interserie Revival cars will go head-to-head with the CanAm cars from the Canadian American Challenge Cup. Last year’s Interserie races were won by Rob Hall’s Matra MS670 but he is sure to face increased opposition in 2012.Add in two-wheeled action from the International Classic Grand Prix series for motorbikes, as well as races from the Spanish Renault Clio Cup, accompanied by air displays, classic car parades, a celebration of the Ferrari F40, music and funfairs, the second Catalunya Classic festival is set to be a winner.Masters Historic racing Event Manager Rachel Bailey said: “Last year’s event showed how much potential the Catalunya Classic Festival has.
