The Vancraft Triumph Racing Team are eagerly awaiting the start of the British Superbike season and have just enjoyed a successful first test in Spain. The three riders Jimmy Hill and Josh Caygill both competing in the British Supersport Championship on the Triumph Daytona 675's both had four solid days testing at the Alcarras Circuit in Spain run by PaceDayz. Their new National Superstock 600 rider Joe Collier also concluded four days of testing and has settled in well to his new team.
Jimmy Hill, younger brother of current British Superbike Champion Tommy is keen to get started this year after two bad wrist injuries hindered his season last year and forced him to miss out on five rounds of the Championship last year. His best result was at Brands Hatch in August with several top six positions after that, Jimmy is now back to full fitness and looking forward to completing his first full season in the competitive Supersport class.
Jimmy - "Testing in Alcarras was fantastic, it was a new track for the entire Vancraft Triumph team but we soon managed to learn it and get back into the groove. On the first day we spent it getting comfortable on the Triumph 675 and also learning the track and where it went! After half a day things felt great and I was already working on setting up the bike to suit me. I loved the Alcarras circuit and by the end of the test I felt mega, my times were good and I was able to end with a good base set up ready for the official BSB tests at Brands and Snetterton in a few weeks. I'd like to pass on a huge thanks to all the Vancraft Triumph team, FTR Suspension, ImageDzign, RMA Stewart, KGN Pillenger, Shoei, Sidi and RST for all their help this season so far."
Team-mate in the Supersport team is 22-year-old Josh Caygill, Josh also made the huge step up into the Supersport class in 2011 and it was very much a learning year for him. Having the support and guidance from Jimmy and the experienced Vancraft Racing team improved his times vastly throughout the season and he is eager for the season to start and continue moving up through the field of riders.
Josh - "Our first test as a team was really positive and a good start to the season. The Vancraft Triumph Racing Team all worked hard together and found a good set up on the Triumph 675, we know where we need to be for the start of the BSB season and we are definitely not far off. The track was great, a really good track to ride a mention must go to PaceDayz for organising such a good testing session for us all. We got down to some good consistent times in the last few days and I'm definitely happy as the new race season approaches us. Our next testing will be the official BSB tests at Brands Hatch and Snetterton on the 21st and 22nd March before we head to the first round at Brands Hatch on Easter Weekend."
The newest member of the team for 2011 is 17-year-old Joe Collier, Joe a former Motocross and Supermoto Champion started his road racing career in 2010 at the Thundersport Superteens series, he moved into the Triumph Triple Challenge last year and secured a comfortable 12th place in the Championship. He has now had a season learning the British Championship circuits and is keen to get started with the Vancraft Racing team in the National Superstock 600 Championship.
Joe - "We had a mint four days testing on the Vancraft Triumph and made huge progress with the bike in the time we were at Alcarras. We got the stability and grip sorted out and I think we've got some good settings to get us started and a good base setting which we'll tweak at each BSB circuit. I'd also like to say a big thank you to all the Vancraft team that helped me whilst we were over there and also all the input they all put in. I'd like to express my thanks to Simon and Stephen Priestnall at AutoWorld Group for helping me to get into the BSB Paddock this year it's much appreciated that they've put their faith in me and I can't wait to get started now."
