Coloni keeps up the momentum in Barcelona

FIFTH PLACE FOR COLETTI, TOP TEN FOR ONIDI

Scuderia Coloni had another very positive day in Barcelona. On the Spanish track, where the teams gathered to take part in the second collective test of the GP2 season, the Italian team again brought his two drivers in the upper part of the timesheets.

Stefano Coletti ended the session with a 1’29”047 that was the fifth fastest time of the day, while Fabio Onidi stopped the clocks just one tenth adrift, with a 1’29”198 that was enough to finish in 10th place. If in the morning the drivers focused on qualifying simulations, fitting the “option” tires for the first time in this test, in the afternoon they went for some long runs, and again the technical staff was very pleased from what they saw, with some very quick and consisten laptimes by both Coletti and Onidi.Tomorrow the team will get on track for the last day of testing before the first race weekend of the season in Sepang. Stefano Coletti: “I’m really pleased by our testing so far. From Jerez to Barcelona we were always among the top runners in the qualifying simulations, but more importantly we are really quick when it comes to race pace. This allows us to work on fine-tuning the details, and the car gets better day after day, together with my feeling with it. We are really doing a good preparation work, and the team’s morale is high”. Fabio Onidi: “I’m in the top ten again so I think I can be happy, especially considering that we still have a bit of work to do in order to make the most of the ‘option’ tyres. On the other hand we are really ok with the ‘prime’ compound as showed by our race simulation today. Considering the amount of fuel I had and the tyres that I was using, 1’33”6 is a really good laptime, something that gives me a lot of confidence looking to the Malaysia race”.
