Dynojet's Frank Wrathall nominated as one of BRDC's ‘SuperStars’ for 2012

Dynojet Racing team leader Frank Wrathall has been given a massive boost ahead of the forthcoming BTCC season with his nomination as one of the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s ‘SuperStars’ for 2012.

The accolade is awarded to only 15 UK drivers annually, and 25-year-old Wrathall is one of only two from the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship to receive it. As well as the kudos which comes from being recognised as one of the elite, the SuperStars programme offers valuable assistance to help those taking part gain a competitive edge.

Wrathall is thrilled with his new SuperStar status: “To be recognised as one of the 15 best young drivers in the country is amazing, and I am massively excited. It’s a real boost at this time of year. In fact, of all the benefits it brings the biggest is the extra confidence it gives you, knowing that you have been selected.”

SuperStars receive direct assistance from the BRDC with physical and mental training, career guidance, team-building skills, sponsorship advice, media and sales training, and PR and marketing.

It is not the first time that Frank’s skills have been recognised by the club - he was picked out as a ‘Rising Star’ when racing Ginetta sports cars, and rewarded the faith shown in him by winning the 2010 Ginetta G50 championship title.

His impressive debut BTCC season with the all-new ‘NGTC’ Dynojet Racing Toyota Avensis marked Wrathall out as an arriving star - four podium finishes, with a best race result of second, netted Frank 12th place in the championship and the coveted ‘Rookie of the Year’ title. He also earned the fans’ favourite accolade from the BTCC supporters club.

Confirming the line-up, BRDC SuperStars director Tim Harvey said: “We always find it hard to make the final decision but after careful consideration we are delighted that we have so many talented drivers to work with. It reinforces our commitment to the sport and the benefits that the BRDC can add to the careers of up-and-coming British talent.”

The shape and fresh warpaint of Frank’s new Toyota touring car are set to be unveiled at Silverstone on 19 March, venue for the scene-setting BTCC media day. The opening rounds of the championship take place at Brands Hatch, Kent, on 1 April.
