Daniil Kvyat takes double Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS wins in Monza

DOUBLE FOR KVYAT: KOIRANEN MOTORSPORT RUSSIAN DRIVER SEIZES ALSO MONZA RACE 2

Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS speaks Russian in Monza. Victory in Race 1 on Saturday afternoon, superb double on Sunday for Daniil Kvyat. The young Koiranen Motorsport driver that races for the Red Bull colors, have lefts crumbles only for rivals.

However both races of this first venue for the formulas of the Series promoted by Fast Lane Promotions were all but boring, with plenty of action and several safety cars. Specifically during Race 2 that ended with the safety car still on track with the two Frenchmen Paul-Loup Chatin (pole setter in Race 1) and William Vermont respectively second and third under the chequered flag.

2012 Season has opened with a full grid (32 cars on track), showing plenty of new drivers. Starting from the 15 y/o Esteban Ocon from France, that almost managed to get on podium. To continue with the English Melville McKee, not so lucky on Sunday, the other Frenchman Norman Nato, the Colombian Oscar Tunjo, the Brazilian Guilherme Silva and the Italian Simone Iaquinta.

THE REPORT. Clean start form pole in Race 2 for Kvyat. Behind him McKee, him too capable o fan excellent start.  The English is in fact capable of passing Chatin, third and chased closely by Tunjo. At the beginning of lap 3, at the Prima Variante, McKee spun and is forced to retire. Same fate for Tunjo, at that stage fourth. Godd driving from Ocon that seizes third place followed by Vermont and Nato. For a crash involving Alexander Albon the safety car joins the track. In the meantime Wackerbauer is pitting. Out of the fight is Brazilian Fraga, in the top five in the early stages. Four more laps behind the safety car and a restart with still three minutes to go. Another crash in Parabolica with Latif and Baiguera force a new Safety Car behind which the race is concluded. In the meantime however Vermont managed third while Ocon looses two places finishing fifth behind Nato.

«Victory under the safety-car, but nevertheless not less deserved as the one of yesterday. – commented Kvyat – We had an excellent pace. Track, moreover, is one of those I like most. At the re-start, when only few minutes were left, I’ve been able to react. Well, I’m really satisfied».

Now almost a month and a half of break. Then the next round scheduled on the 12/13 May weekend on the charming city track of Pau.
