EASTBOURNE No.1 Joonas Kylmakorpi was taken to hospital after a heavy crash in Heat 1 of the Eagles’ Elite League defeat at King’s Lynn.Kylmakorpi was set for scans on his neck, shoulder and pelvis and in his absence his side were beaten 31-59.Team boss Trevor Geer said: “Even if Joonas had been fit for the whole match, I do not think it would have made any difference to the end result. I do not think we made one gate all night and we were chasing in every race.“We are still at an early stage of the season and we must aim to take advantage of these early meetings to get points on the board so the other teams have to play catch up. It worked in 2011 and there’s no reason why it should not this year.”(SPEEDWAY 2)

It was good to get a good score tonight. I am happy.”

LAKESIDE co-promoter Stuart Douglas is eagerly awaiting the new-look Hammers taking to the track in the Elite League on Friday. The Purfleet side launch their campaign with a home clash against Belle Vue, with both Peter Karlsson and Davey Watt making their debuts for the club.Douglas said: “Just like the Hammers fans, I’m excited about what this team could achieve and I can’t wait for the action to start at the Raceway. “The fantastic weather we’ve had this week looks set to continue until after the weekend, so Hammers fans will be able to enjoy a great nights racing hopefully without the sub-zero temperatures of starting the season in early March!”(FIXTURES)
