Hebden Bridge-based CN Racing head to Brands Hatch for the opening round of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship this forthcoming Easter weekend with all three riders hoping to make a solid start to the season.
After a productive Spanish testing schedule last month, riders Danny Buchan, Josh Day and Gavin Hunt go into the season opener in confident mood aboard their 2012 Ten Kate-prepared 1000cc Honda Fireblades but with over 60 riders entered for the class, they know it won't be easy.
18-year-old Buchan from Basildon won a thrilling race on Easter Monday last year on his way to runner-up spot in the 2011 Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship and starts as one of the title favourites this season while Day, 23 and from Cirencester, as well as 25-year-old Manxman Hunt are both potential front-runners.
Although he is progressing well following on from a broken leg sustained during the tests in Spain, Ulsterman Andy Reid will not be in action for the team in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship this weekend.
Dwayne McCracken, Crew Chief: "We are excited and can't wait to get going at Brands Hatch. After his problems in testing, it will be good to have Josh back and as a former Superstock 600 champion, he knows what it takes to win a title. Gavin was very fast and impressive during testing and surprised a lot of people so we know he'll go well too. Danny has to be one of the favourites for the title this year and with that comes pressure but he thrives on that so I'm sure he'll be a major force at his local track. Andy is progressing well and will be back as soon as he can but it's unfortunate he'll miss the opening couple of rounds at least. Hopefully, we'll have reason to celebrate on Monday evening and we can get our season off to a good start."
