Lloyd Second Fastest In Official Thruxton Test

Daniel Lloyd maintained his superb early-season momentum at Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire, Thursday, 5th April, by setting the second fastest time during officially timed Porsche Carrera Cup GB testing – the only available run at the track before its race meeting at the end of the month.Off the back of a thoroughly impressive category race debut at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit last weekend, where he made headlines with a maiden podium in only his second Porsche race, the 20-year-old from Huddersfield was again consistently at the sharp end throughout.Producing his best time of the day in the quicker afternoon session, Daniel delivered a lap of 1m13.787 seconds (114.94mph) to conclude the test second only to championship leader Michael Meadows. In the morning session, running on old tyres at that point, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar was fourth with a time of 1m14.704 seconds (113.53mph).“It’s a big learning curve at Thruxton in the Porsche, you have to do your best time on laps two and three otherwise the tyres just drop away”, explained Daniel, “On my new tyre run I cocked-up the second lap near the end and that ruined the start of my third lap so I lost my chance.“Being P2 is good though, just a chunk off [Michael] Meadows unfortunately but I know where the time was lost and how to find it. I’m definitely happy with today and it’s been good preparation for when we’re back at Thruxton for the races at the end of the month.”Before then, the TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack and TPA Yorkshire-supported driver turns his attention to the next two rounds of the championship which will be held at Donington Park in the East Midlands on 14th/15th April – the home event for Daniel’s Team Parker Racing squad.“At Donington I just need to keep doing what I am, it’s been a great start to the year – other than the puncture in the first race at Brands!”, added Daniel, “If we can keep producing the consistency and be competitive again, we should have a good weekend. The aim is to keep scoring big points and there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to do that at Donington.”

With little time to rest in a very busy start to the 2012 season, the West Yorkshire racer will be back at the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 next Thursday, 12th April, for the Donington pre-event practice. From there, qualifying for rounds three and four of the campaign will take place at 14.40 on Saturday, 14th April, while both races will follow on Sunday, 15th April, at 10.00 and 15.40 respectively.Live television coverage of the second of the two races will be screened across the UK on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4, on ITV4 HD and with simultaneous live streaming online at the itv.com/btcc website
