Donington Ginetta Junior Double The Aim For Robertson

Charlie Robertson heads into the third and fourth rounds of the 2012 Ginetta Junior Championship at Donington Park this weekend, 14th/15th April, aiming for nothing less than two race victories after confirming his title credentials during the season-opener at Brand Hatch.By rights, the Investigo and Ria Capital Markets-backed HHC Motorsport driver should have had two wins in the bag at the first race meeting of the campaign just over a week ago but a puncture in round one, while leading, cost him that opportunity.Putting the disappointment behind him to win round two by a comfortable three second margin, the 15-year-old concluded the Brands Hatch weekend third in the championship while also bettering his own lap record for the 1.2-mile Indy Circuit.Undoubtedly the clear pace-setter during the first event of 2012, Charlie is keen to replicate that level of performance at Donington - the venue for his maiden Ginetta Junior podium last year when he took a sensational second place in only his third ever car race."I'm really looking forward to being back at Donington", said the MSA Academy youngster, "I know we should be going there leading the championship, without the puncture in race one at Brands we would have had two wins already. We're still third in the points though and only a couple behind George [Gamble] in second place, so it's still been a good start to the year."

Several of Charlie's series rivals did benefit from some additional seat time during an official test session at Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire on Thursday, 5th April, but academic commitments meant the Caterham School pupil wasn't able to take part.Even so, he's confident he'll be at the sharp end during the officially timed pre-event practice at Donington this Thursday, 12th April, when he's back behind the wheel of his Ginetta G40 in preparation for what should be two cracking races at the 1.98-mile National Circuit."It's always close racing at Donington and there are a lot of quick drivers at the front in Ginetta Junior but we know we should be capable of fighting for wins again", added Charlie, "The main thing we need to do is close the gap to Niall [Murray] at the top of the championship and I'm confident we can do that."Following pre-event practice at Donington Park on Thursday, 12th April, a further practice session will be held for the Ginetta Junior competitors on Saturday, 14th April, at 10.50 ahead of qualifying at 14.10 and the first race of the weekend, round three, at 16.55.On Sunday, 15th April, round four will get underway at 12.25 and will be screened live on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4, on ITV4 HD and online at itv.com/btcc
