Fittipaldi, Mikola, Kristoffersson to fight for Superstars wins with Liuzzi, Morbidelli and Biagi

THE SANTERNO TRACK WILL HOST A TOP COMPETITION BETWEEN WORLD-LEVEL RACING STARS, LINED-UP ABOARD CARS FROM THE TOP MANUFACTURERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA

With just five days to go before Round 2 of the season, starting at the "Enzo and Dino Ferrari" track in Imola this weekend, and an heart-true battle among racing stars will play a key role in a much-anticipated event.

A new World Motorsports star will make his debut aboard the Swiss Team Maserati Quattroporte: Brazilian Christian Fittipaldi will race with the team that cruised to title in 2011 with Andrea Bertolini. He will swap places with Mika Salo over the whole season in order to prepare for a full-time 2013 assault.

«I'm really excited about my SUPERSTARS debut. - told Fittipaldi - I will line-up in just three races this season, and the first one is at Imola. My wish is to battle with all the other champions of the series and be among the frontrunners in order to prepare for 2013, when I hope to fight for the championship. Nonetheless, I want to perform since the very beginning as I rely on one of the most competitive cars of the series. With all the great racers of SUPERSTARS it won't be easy: this is set to be a major challenge».

Another valuable new entry will be Indonesian Ananda Mikola. The open-wheel sensation, who previously lined-up in the Formula 3000 and World Series Light championships in Europe, has also impressed in the major Asian-based championships. He will be driving a Team Ferlito-prepared Jaguar XF-R. Mikola will be, last but not least, a spectacular addition to SUPERSTARS, as the series keeps looking towards its world expansion starting from the 2012 grand finale of Sentul, Indonesia, set for mid November.

«SUPERSTARS is definitely the benchmark closed-wheel competition in Europe - told Mikola - and I'll be making my way in through the front door, as I'll be aboard a car that performed great at Monza in the hands of my team-mate Max Pigoli. It's been extremely competitive as he went from pole to win in Race 1. Imola will be the second stop for the 2012 season, in a long journey that will end at my home racetrack in Sentul».

The international line-up of SUPERSTARS will be highlighted by KMS racer Johan Kristoffersson. The Swedish rookie, born in 1988, made a positive debut in the opening round at Monza as he cruised to 5th place aboard the brand-new Audi RS5, ending up right behind Thomas Biagi. The Bologna-based racer, driving a ROAL Motorsport-supported M3 E92 for Team BMW Dinamic, is willing to keep the Italian banner high. Monza's Race 2 winner Tonio Liuzzi is setting his sights on the same result like Gianni Morbidelli, who is looking forward to the round at Santerno which seems pretty promising for his manufacturer-supported Audi RS5.

The SUPERSTARS drivers are ready for a last-gasp battle set from the very beginning of this round, as they will be representing many different manufacturers in grid full of high-level racers. The excitement for fans will be unprecedented also thanks to a live TV distribution covering 66 Countries for both SUPERSTARS and GTSPRINT. For the fans aiming for a place on-track, the FREETICKET campaign is still open and will provide them with a free place on IMOLA's grandstands. By registering at eurosuperstars.com, they will be able to download the voucher for round 2 of 2012.
