Scuderia Coloni In Bahrain To Tackle GP2 Back To Back Action

After a month-long stop GP2 is ready to restart action: all the teams flew to Bahrain, where F1’s best feeder-series will hold not just one but two rounds. The first one is scheduled for the coming weekend, together with the F1 Grand Prix, while the other one will be a stand-alone event on the following weekend. After a good start of the season in Sepang, Scuderia Coloni is ready to tackle the back to back events with enthusiasm: the team worked hard at home, preparing for a track that offers many different challenges. The tyres will surely be one of the key points for a good weekend, as the Sakhir track can be very harsh on rubber due to both high temperatures and the presence of sand on the tarmac. The weekend will start with Free Practice and Qualifying on Friday (10.55 and 14.55 CET), with Race 1 scheduled for Saturday at 14.40 CET. The start of Race 2 will be given on Sunday morning at 9.35 CET.Paolo Coloni: “Bahrain will be a real challenge for us. It’s a track where experience is particularly important and our drivers are lacking it, as Fabio never raced here and Stefano experienced just the shorter layout in 2005. Furthermore, they won’t have many laps to learn because the track is very demanding for tires, so to preserve our rubber for the races our track activity in the Practices will be less intense than usual. With such features the room for mistakes will be minimal, we will have to hit our objectives each time we will exit the pits. That’s why the job our engineers did at home with the simulator will surely prove useful, and why everybody will have to be at 100% all the time.We believe that we have what it takes to step-up to the challenge, and that’s the same for our drivers. Coletti and Onidi are both talented and open-minded, and they know how to adapt to the particular features of the track, so we expect a very good weekend”.
