Pedrosa tops timesheets in MotoGP morning warm-up

Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa set the pace in this morning´s warm-up before the Gran Premio bwin de España.

Damp track conditions mixed with rays of sunshine saw the MotoGP field head out on wets to prepare for this afternoon´s race, which is predicted to be a rain-hit affair. Pedrosa, who starts second on the grid, set a fastest lap of 1.50´860 ahead of Ducati Team´s Nicky Hayden and Monster Yamaha Tech3´s Andrea Dovizioso.

Pole sitter Jorge Lorenzo was fourth fastest on his Yamaha Factory Racing machine, while Valentino Rossi made the most of the conditions to show his wet form in fifth. Reigning World Champion Casey Stoner did not set a lap on his Repsol Honda.

With a dry line appearing just before the end of the session, Lorenzo´s team mate Ben Spies went out on a pair of soft slick tyres for a practice start.

Today´s MotoGP race starts at 14:00 local time.
