Rockstar Energy double podium in Salt Lake City

Rockstar Energy Racing celebrated its first double podium of the season at round 16 of the 2012 AMA/ FIM Supercross World Championship at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday night as RM-Z250 Suzuki-mounted Jason Anderson and Martin Davalos raced to second and third places in Supercross Lites class.

Anderson's result at the penultimate round of the series was his career best and first Main Event podium: His night started with his six-lap heat race, where he got up front and finished second. Then, he went on to holeshot the 15-lap Main Event and led the first 10 laps before eventually finishing second.

"My race was good," said Anderson. "I grabbed the holeshot and I'm pumped about that. I was a little nervous about running up front, but I came out a solid second and I can't thank my Rockstar Energy Racing team enough: They've stuck by me through thick and thin. Going into Las Vegas, I have some good momentum and I'm motivated after this weekend, so I just want to keep progressing."

Similarly for team-mate Davalos, the weekend's race marked both his best finish of 2012 and first podium of the season: Dicing aggressively with his team-mate - as well as everyone else in his heat and the Main Event - Davalos followed Anderson home in third place in both races.

"It was definitely a great night for our team, with Jason getting second and me getting third," said Davalos. "I feel like I rode really good and I'm just proud to be on the podium. It's been a rough season for me and this was a great way to come back and put it on the box for the team. They've worked so hard and I'm so proud to be a part of the Rockstar Energy Racing team."

Rockstar's Brett Metcalfe had a rough time at Salt Lake City Aboard his Yoshimura Suzuki in the Supercross class: Although he had a good showing in his heat race with a sixth-place finish, the Main Event saw him get tangled up with another rider who crashed right in front of him and he was forced to retire for the evening.

The next event for the Rockstar Energy Racing teams is the 17th and final round of the 2012 AMA/ FIM World Supercross Championship on Saturday, May 5th at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
