Wind, waves, sand and more than 40 super sports cars bearing 13 different marques - the ADAC GT Championship is gearing up for a spectacular beach party on the first of its foreign excursions in 2012, this time to Zandvoort in the Netherlands. There are no fewer than six local contenders lining up at the former Formula 1 circuit this weekend: Peter Kox (48), Christiaan Frankenhout (30), Jeroen den Boer (24), Simon Knap (23), Patrick Huisman (45) and guest starter Jeroen Bleekemolen (30). With a total of 14 race wins, the Netherlands is the second-most successful nation in the 'Super Sports Car League'. Two other famous names on the bill are ex-Formula 1 driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Tomas Enge. Formel ADAC •Two new local talents in starting field for ADAC junior formula series •Beitske Visser (NL) the only woman driver in Formel ADAC

For the two upcoming young Dutch drivers Beitske Visser (17, Lotus) and Indy Dontje (19, Lotus), the Formel ADAC debut in Zandvoort is a home race. They live close to the venue (20 and 60 minutes respectively) and know the 'Circuit in the Dunes' like the back of their hand. And they intend to use that factor to their advantage: "I'm looking to secure my first win here in my home race," says Visser. She is, however, up against some tough competition: in the three races over the opening weekend at the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben, there were three different winners, and eight different drivers occupied the nine podium places available. So before Visser or Dontje can claim the home victory they are both dreaming of, they have to progress through a hotly contested race weekend. The main changes include the 230bhp Volkswagen engine and its push-to-pass system which gives the driver a 20-horsepower boost over ten seconds for up to ten times in the race. The Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing team is entering no fewer than three Dallara F 311 cars with the VW Power Engine. Drivers for the reigning champions (Team Principal: Frits van Amersfoort) include local hero Dennis van de Laar and Lucas Auer (Austria), nephew of ten-time Grand Prix winner Gerhard Berger. The international starting field for the "ADAC PROCAR - Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge des DMSB" promises to serve up a feast of exciting touring car racing in two divisions, all set against the impressive backdrop of the Zandvoort dunescape. After his double win in the season opener at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, championship leader Jens Weimann is the man to catch in Division 1. The thoroughbred Super2000 cars are modelled along World Touring Car Championship lines, their 2-litre naturally aspirated engines generating around 285 horsepower. In Division 2, Oschersleben winner Guido Thierfelder will be in everyone's sights. His pursuers include rising stars Lennart Marioneck and Julia Trampert who are both sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation.
