Isaac Tutumlu leaves World Touring Car Championship

Isaac Tutumlu, who missed last weekend the Slovakian round, leaves the championship due to contractual issues with Proteam Racing.  "This decision is not easy because “WTCC is a championship which I like it. I have followed it closely for many years but there is no continuity by now”. said Tutumlu.

The 26 years old driver is pleased “with all support received during last days. Firstly from Barzani family and Kurdistan, they made possible this project and were a help during bad times. I have to say Marcello Lotti, CEO of WTCC, was another helpful hand for me. Finally Proteam Racing´s mechanics made a very professional work under the circumstances for me, always trying their best to have as good car as possible”, and added that “despite almost everything went wrong during the races, with very troublesome weekends, I have received a lot of support”.

After stopping his commitments in the WTCC, Tutumlu is now looking to contest the Porsche Supercup once again. Porsche Supercup, one of the most famous GT championships and sharing track activities with Formula 1.  “I am joining ATTEMPTO Racing, my same team from 2011. The championship just started in Bahrain, so I have plenty of races ahead including both in Spain at Montmeló, where I will make my debut this season, and Valencia.

My teammates will be Kévin Estre and Nicki Thiim, two young and promising drivers and I feel confident about our chances to achieve good results”, Tutumlu said.
