Leading Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series team Double R Racing will make its first ever appearance in the F3 Euroseries this weekend, 19th/20th May, during the championship’s visit to Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent.Also forming part of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, the event’s three races at the 1.2-mile venue are intended to provide Dallara-Mercedes drivers Fahmi Ilyas and Geoff Uhrhane with some essential seat time.With both competitors, who ordinarily compete in the headline International Class in British F3, having only agreed their 2012 race deals very late in the day, testing has been at a premium up to now. The added experience of some additional races though, against the cream of European talent, will be hugely beneficial. In addition to the Brands Hatch races this weekend, the Woking team has also confirmed it will contest the subsequent round of the F3 Euroseries at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on 2nd/3rd June ahead of the resumption of the British F3 season at Rockingham in Northamptonshire a week later.“We’ve never done a European championship round before so we’re really looking forward to giving Geoff and Fahmi some extra time in the car, especially as it’s our home track”, commented Double R boss Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt, “The team always likes racing at Brands and the mileage will be good for both drivers, their deals were done very late so an extra race meeting can only be good for them.“Having some experience on the Hankook tyres will be good too, we’ll be using them when we visit the Norisring in British F3 so getting a good understanding of how they work will be useful. We’ve also decided to do the F3 Euroseries round at the Red Bull Ring at the start of June too, so we’ve got a busy few weeks ahead!”Following pre-event practice on Friday, 18th May, qualifying at Brands Hatch will get underway at 16.45 with the first two races taking place on Saturday, 19th May, at 11.00 and 16.35. Race three will be held on Sunday, 20th May, at 10.50.
