Ford Dealer Elfyn Leads British Rallying

BRENTWOOD, Essex, 18 May 2012  –  The phrase “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” has never been truer than for Welsh Ford dealer, Elfyn Evans, who is currently leading the British Rally Championship, with three back-to-back class victories in his Ford Fiesta R2 rally car.

Elfyn, from Dolgellau – a salesman at his father’s Ford dealership, Gwyndaf Evans Motors, in Gwynedd – has won the first three rounds of the BRC, the latest being the Pirelli International Rally in Carlisle, last month.

“Elfyn has shown himself to be the best rally driver in the UK at the moment with a superb effort on the first three gravel events,” said Andrew Wheatley of M-Sport, which runs the works Fiesta R2 for Ford in the BRC.  “It’s an even more impressive result considering that Elfyn runs in Class R2, for 1,600cc cars with 160bhp, with the majority of his competitors in the higher, 220-250bhp, R3 class.”

As an example of Ford’s rallying “ladder of opportunity” in action, Elfyn is also involved in the World Rally Championship Academy, as his next step in motorsport success.

“It’s been a dream start to the British Championship,” said Elyfn and I’ll do my best to defend my lead here, and see what I can achieve in the WRC.”

The next round of the British Rally Championship is the Jim Clark Rally in Kelso, 1-3 June 2012
