First podium for Facu Regalia F3 Open

Facu Regalia was second in Q2 at the wheel of his Campos Racing´s Dallara F312 and achieved his maiden podium the European F3 Open at Nürburgring.

Facu Regalia claimed his first podium ever in the European F3 Open, after finishing third in race two celebrated at Nürburgring. The Argentine Campos Racing driver  had another brilliant result in Q2, qualifying second a few thousandths behind pole position time and leading for a while, and started on the front row of the starting grid.

Regalia made another good start, explaining that “it was impossible to overtake Gianmarco Raimondo, because his start was pretty good too. We were using s new set of tires, and because of that I had problems at early stages. On lap one I went off-track slightly and it was the moment when both Sam Dejonghe and Niccolò Schirò passed me”. Anyway, Regalia kept pushing hard and, later, overtook Dejonghe describing this maneuver “like a good one. Then I made a gap with Dejonghe and my rhythm was very good, at least as good as to recover time with Gianmarco Raimondo and Schirò. Unfortunately, there were far away to catch them”. This third position, as Regalia said, “is very worthy for everyone at Campos Racing. We had a competitive car but RP Motorsport and their drivers were very strong here. In my opinion even leading the race, it was impossible to win this race facing them”.

Regalia feels confident after this weekend in Germany, because “I am fifth overall, we are more and more competitive, our knowledge on the car improves every time and our season ahead is still very long”.

Next venue for Regalia in the European F3 Open is in June at Spa-Francorchamps, but in the Auto GP series he is taking part next weekend in Portuguese round.
