Camilo Zurcher makes SUPERSTARS debut for Team Romeo Ferraris

COLOMBIAN RACER JOINS THE FG GROUP SERIES AT MUGELLO

Another renowned name has joined the sensational 2012 roster of the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES. Colombian Camilo Zurcher will be making his first appearance in the V8-powered championship at Mugello, as he will be lining-up aboard a Team Romeo Ferraris-prepared Mercedes C63 AMG in the next five rounds of the series.

For him it will be the first time in the championship. Born in 1980 in Bogotà, he moved to open-wheel racing after a positive karting stint and won the Formula Renault 2000 championship in 1998. In the following seasons he moved to the USA, winning the USAC Triple Crown Pro Series and also cruising to victory in his hometown's 6-hour race with a Durango-prepared Radical SR3.

The young South American talent stopped by to answer a few questions…

What brought you to SUPERSTARS?

"I've been following this championship in the last few years and I've always been fascinated. The race are really spectacular and unpredictable thanks to the great balance between the cars. The SUPERSTARS championship is a benchmark in international racing and I'm really happy and proud to be part of this series. There's a lot of following in Colombia and it will be a great promotional event since I'm well-known in my country".

You will be racing on a Mercedes C63 AMG, what do you think about this car?

"Mercedes has always been a key brand in the automotive industry, both on the production side and in motorsports. It will be a great pleasure for me to tame the great V8 engine of the C63 AMG, one of the fastest cars in the series. I'm sure it will be great fun".

What has been your first impression of the Romeo Ferraris team?

"I visited their headquarters last week: I have to say that I've been captivated by their professionalism and by their dedication in racing. The perfect management and care of their shop is a good indication of how passioned they are. I'm also happy to have Andrea Larini as a team-mate: I'm sure we will be able to do a great teamwork".

What is your most dangerous rival?

"I see the Audi as the car to beat this season. With the experience of Morbidelli and the determination of Kristoffersson our life won't be easy. On the other hand, I reckon I'm proud to be competing alongside drivers like Tonio Liuzzi, Johnny Herbert and Thomas Biagi. I'll be remembering this experience for the rest of my life".
