Ananda Mikola debuts in SUPERSTARS

INDONESIAN RACER BUILDS GOOD MOMENTUM AT MUGELLO WITH MAIDEN POINTS FINISH

In 2012, SUPERSTARS has reached new highs in terms of international presence thanks an high-quality field featuring many stars from all over the world. Coming from Indonesia,  experienced open-wheel racer Ananda Mikola made a positive debut in the FG GROUP-promoted championship. The 2012 SUPERSTARS field welcomed drivers from 8 different countries, including Colombian newcomer Camilo Zurcher.

Starting from the current race weekend at Mugello, Mikola partnered with Roma Racing Team to drive a Mercedes C63 AMG after having made his debut aboard a Ferlito-prepared Jaguar XFR at Imola. The results proved positive for him as he cruised to 8th place in Race 1, scoring his maiden points finish in the series.

What has been your first impression of the SUPERSTARS way of racing?

“I used to race in open-wheelers and there's a big difference with these touring cars. Particularly in SUPERSTARS, the performance balancing between the cars is sensational for the fans and the drivers too. It's great fun”.

You recently moved from Jaguar to Mercedes, what has been different for you?

“Unfortunately at Imola I suffered from some very bad luck over the weekend despite the fact that the Jaguar is a great car. I was forced to retire in Race 1 and some mechanical issues prevented me from being at the start of Race 2. At Mugello I joined the Mercedes camp with Roma Racing Team, and I got going with them and with the car really quickly. That enabled me to be fast straight out of the box and collect my first points”.

What do you expect for Race 2?

“Surely it won't be easy due to the high level of my competition but I'm gonna give the 100 percent in order to be even faster and repeat or surpass the results of Race 1. In this moment I need to put as many laps as possible under my belt in order to reach and maintain my full shape and be a challenger in the next races”.

The SUPERSTARS SERIES will line-up at your home track in Sentul for the last round of 2012. How do you think SUPERSTARS will be welcomed there?

“Definitely there's going to be a lot of people, a really big crowd. I'll do my best to give my fans something to be really proud of, I'm looking forward to battle for a top position. I'm sure it will be a great show, in SUPERSTARS style”.
