A FERRARI FOR FATHER'S DAY

Fancy giving your dad a Ferrari this Father’s Day (Sunday 17 June). If not how about a Porsche, Lamborghini or MG?

Thousands of these fantastic classic and supercars will be on display at the forthcoming Silverstone Classic powered by the AA (20-22 July) and that’s why coveted tickets are the perfect present for Father's Day. What’s more those buying Father’s Day tickets can take advantage of significant discounts of up to 20 per cent, which are available for those booking in advance.

No matter what his particular interest, any father will be blown away by a visit to the Silverstone Classic. Proudly carrying the tag of 'the world's biggest classic motor racing festival', the Silverstone Classic is much more than a glorious celebration of motor racing heritage. It is a complete event dedicated to providing a fabulous day or weekend out for everyone, and it is getting even bigger for 2012.

Across three full days there will be attractions, entertainment and activities for all the family, headed by a glorious line-up of 24 races featuring many of the rarest, most spectacular and valuable classic racing cars in the world. Ranging from the cars of the 1930s to the 1990s, the stellar race line-up will deliver some of the most spectacular grids ever seen in Great Britain covering Formula 1, Le Mans, sports and GT cars. Adding to the non-stop entertainment, there’s even a special Celebrity Challenge race featuring famous faces from showbiz, TV, sports and music. This year’s star-studded line-up includes Sir Patrick Stewart, top chef Heston Blumenthal, BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole and AC/DC ‘frontman’ Brian Johnson.

One significant new addition for 2012 is the launch of AA World, an automotive theme park with a host of action-packed activities plus FREE driving experiences. With an opportunity for all those aged six and over to get behind the wheel, this is one Father’s Day gift that any dad can enjoy with his entire family.

As has become customary, live music will also be a major feature of the weekend, with major concerts on the evenings of both Friday (20 July) and Saturday (21 July) to maintain the event’s ‘Rocking and Racing’ tradition. Mike and Mechanics top the bill on Friday, while Saturday’s performances feature sets by Snakecharmer and pop legend Adam Ant. Entry to both AA World and the rock concerts is included within the circuit admission price.

But the entertainment doesn’t stop there. A vintage fun fair, go-karts, aerial displays with wing walkers, the Parachute Regiment The Red Devils, hot air balloons, Punch and Judy (celebrating 350 years in 2012), rally car and 4x4 experiences, lawn mower racing, trial bikes demos, street car shootouts, an off-road zone and giant TV screens showing all the on-track action are all part of the most remarkable show of the year. There is even a pampering centre plus the retail village with nearly 200 exhibitors presenting a wide range of autojumble, automobilia, art, jewellery, books, videos and gifts for everyone.

"The Silverstone Classic is the biggest and best classic racing festival in the World as well as Europe's most entertaining car-themed event," said event director Nick Wigley. "There is something to suit every dad in the country – that’s why a day out at the Silverstone Classic at the end of July is the perfect Father's Day gift."

Adult tickets for 2012’s Silverstone Classic powered by the AA (20-22 July) cost from as little as £35 and special two- and three-day weekend tickets are also available with savings of up to 20 per cent if purchased in advance.
