Daniel Lloyd Gunning For Podium Return at Croft Porsche Carrera Cup

Front-running Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship racer Daniel Lloyd is fully focused on making a return to the podium next weekend, 23rd/24th June, when rounds nine and 10 of the 2012 season take place at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire. As the second of the Huddersfield driver’s two ‘home’ events, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar is hoping for plenty of partisan Yorkshire support when he makes his first competitive outing at the 2.1 mile track since 2010...especially as he is a Patron for his home county!Daniel’s maiden season in the high-profile sportscar championship has been nothing short of brilliant so far, the 20-year-old having claimed his first Porsche podium during the opening weekend at Brands Hatch before going on to take another at Donington Park and then his debut win at Thruxton.Although just missing out on taking another podium last time out at Oulton Park, the TNT Post, TSD, Creechurch Private Wealth, Propack and TPA Yorkshire-supported driver did secure a pair of healthy points finishes meaning he will arrive at Croft an excellent fourth in the championship.“It didn’t go quite as well as we’d hoped at Oulton but we still took away some good points so it wasn’t all bad”, commented the Team Parker Racing driver, “It’s nice to have Croft, another local track for us, just around the corner and I know we should be strong there and be quick. We’ll have plenty of guests and sponsors there again so hopefully I can reward them with a podium at the very least.“I’ve only had half a day round Croft in the Porsche up to now but I’ve always gone well there and it’s where I had my first win in cars in Ginetta Junior. I’m definitely going there next weekend aiming to win, although I will be happy if we can have a couple of strong podiums for the championship. If the pace is there though, as it has been all year really, we should be able to fight right at the front.”Daniel has certainly enjoyed strong results at Croft over the years, whatever the car or championship, and after taking his maiden win in his first season in cars in 2008 in Ginetta Junior he promptly added another victory the following day.
