SPECTATORS can expect a wide variety of tin-top action with cars and drivers of all ages taking part in the British Racing Sports Car Club (BRSCC) race meeting at Rockingham this weekend (June 30/July1).Tickets for the BRSCC race weekend are just £15 per adult and admission for children aged 16 or under is FREE, so families have the opportunity to enjoy a day of quality entertainment at an affordable price.The Mighty Minis entertain wherever they go, and this season the championship has a new rising star, Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher. The 28-year-old actor is proving to be a surprise package showing some great form in his debut season.In support of the Mighty Minis, the Super Mighty Mini Championship will also be in action on Rockingham’s International Super Sportscar Long Circuit. Gary Patterson may lead the pack but veteran Bob Bennetts showed he still had it last time out with a podium finish.The meeting also sees racing from the 2012 BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship, with Neil Smith hoping to extend his lead and make it six wins from six starts in the Class E 147 on Saturday.
The Arrowpak Euro Saloons always brings an eclectic mix of intoxicating machines to the party; watch out for the 7000cc Ford Falcon of Andy Robinson and the 6 Litre Macros Mantis piloted by Doug Ellwood.
Saker Sports Cars will be bringing some glamour to the racing. These spectacular looking Dutch manufactured cars boast a mid-mounted 2 litre, turbo charged boxer engine and are built for thrilling, affordable GT endurance racing.There are two different Ford Fiesta championships. The senior Fiesta championship has three classes: ST, Si & Zetec headed by Jason Cooper, David Elsom and Nik Barton respectively. The Junior Championship, which is open to 14 to 16-year-olds, shows age is no barrier when it comes to racing.Finally joining the weekend from the North East are the cars from the Darlington & District Motor Club’s Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship.All tickets include a grandstand seat with a unique panoramic view of the entire circuit, and access to the race paddock, allowing a unique insight into the hard work behind the scenes from the teams.Rockingham prides itself on providing access to all motorsport fans, and for those who are registered disabled can apply for a FREE admission ticket for their carer. Written proof is required.
