JD Classics triumph at Le Mans Classic

Leading classic car company JD Classics maintained its consistent 2012 performance by producing some successful drives at the bi-annual Le Mans Classic where it entered four illustrious race cars over the action packed weekend.

The quartet included the ex-Stirling Moss Costin Lister Jaguar (Derek Hood/Alex Buncombe), ex-Fangio C-Type (Alex Buncombe), ex-Roy Salvadori XK 120 (Derek Hood) and an ex-works Austin Healey 100S (John Young).

Following on from his triumphant Jaguar Heritage Racing win at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, Buncombes success in the ex-Fangio C-Type was repeated once again at Le Mans on behalf of Jaguar Heritage Racing, as he drove home to cross the line first in races 1 & 2, and third in race 3. The Englishman also celebrated the fastest lap time of plateau 2 when on the seventh lap of race 3 he crossed the line with a time of 5:10:052.

Buncombes success for JD Classics was also bolstered by a strong showing from John Young in the Austin Healey 100 S, who passed the chequered flag with a best placing of third over the three races. Youngs Austin Healey, which is one of only 55 cars built, finished in a time of 43:43:888.

In the ex-Stirling Moss Costin Lister Jaguar, JD Classics Managing Director Derek Hood and Alex Buncombe secured two first place finishes, and in the ex-Roy Salvadori XK 120 Hood finished in 12th position overall.

The team is now looking ahead to the Silverstone Classic on July 20-22.

Derek Hood, Managing Director, JD Classics commented:  I am delighted that our cars put in such a strong performance at the weekend in Le Mans. We had some good results earlier in the season, and to follow this up shows good consistency. My particular congratulations go to Alex Buncombe for his sterling drive that saw him finish in first position.
