Euro Racecar NASCAR, Gremlins rob Burdon of Brands Hatch clean sweep

Mechanical issues have denied Australias Josh Burdon of a likely perfect round in the Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series at Brands Hatch this weekend, 8-9th June 2013.

20 year-old Burdon had set himself up for the final race with pole and a race win the day before, however, a blown oil hose forced the Forza Motorsport Chevrolet SS to retire from the race lead in the final laps, however, he still maintains a 19 point lead in the Open Class.

Its been as absolute pleasure racing here at Brands Hatch, said Burdon, its a magic track and I was so close to a perfect weekend with pole and winning race one yesterday.

In todays race I lead from start until two laps remaining when a $10 oil hose disconnected forcing me to retire from the race to risk hurting the engine, said Burdon, we still have the Championship lead so eyes forward, but today I feel robbed.

Having set the fastest lap in the opening race, Burdon was off pole for the Sunday final, and set to task early, and after a safety car period from lap three, he soon pulled away from the field with, eventual race winner, Anthony Gandon sticking to his rear bumper.

Ant [Gandon] was right on it out there, said Burdon, It was hard work holding him at bay pretty much the entire race, and I dont think there was really more than half a second between us the whole time.

The Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series returns to France for the next round which will be a new addition to the calendar, racing on a banked oval track at Tours Speedway, 6-7th July.

The banked oval track is what most fans think of when they think of NASCAR, and it will be exciting for everyone, with this being a new track for the Series...I really cant wait.
