Leonard joins TPR for Carrera Cup GB

Karl Leonard will race with Team Parker Racing in this season’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB and will chase the Pro-Am1 title for the team headed by Stuart Parker.Irishman Leonard will return to the championship he first contested in 2008. Although he has always only tackled selected races, Leonard has always been a strong contender in Pro-Am1 and will now make a concerted assault on the Pro-Am1 title.Leonard says he is delighted to have confirmed his plans for the season. “The race at Le Mans is a big thing for me and I hope to be chasing for the overall podium,” he said. “I drove the Type-991 car in the Supercup race at Silverstone last year and I think it will be very level this year. I hope to get closer to Michael Meadows!”Team boss Stuart Parker said: “We’re really excited to have Karl back in the team. We’ve got high hopes for him and he should be right at the forefront of Pro-Am1.” Leonard will commence his pre-season testing programme at Silverstone on Tuesday (18 March) during the official test and media day.The 2014 Carrera Cup GB schedule includes a sensational date on the morning of the Le Mans 24-hour when it runs alongside the Carrera Cup France as the key support race to the famous 24-hour marathon. The balance of the season will, as is customary, support the MSA British Touring Car Championship.
