Formula 4 Squad SWR Focused On Podium Return At Snetterton‏

Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk hosts the resumption of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship season next weekend, 21st/22nd June, where front-running squad SWR is determined to make a return to the podium and get its 2014 season firing on all cylinders.Making an expectedly successful start to the campaign back in April with rostrum success for Nicolas Beer at the Chipping Norton team’s ‘home’ track, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, the second event of the season at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit was unfortunately less favourable for the Dane.Contact on the final lap of the first race at the Kent venue robbed Beer of a certain top 10 finish, before an unfortunate penalty in the second encounter undid a superb drive through the order from 17th on the grid into 11th position.Forced to miss the third Brands Hatch race due to a long-standing family commitment in Denmark, the F4 rookie returns to action at Snetterton as focused as ever and confident of being back in the fight for more silverware – particularly as he went well at the East Anglian track pre-season.While Beer’s championship position took a hit last month, SWR team-mates Jordan Albert and Diego Borrelli each delivered season-best performances at Brands Hatch to serve notice of their fantastic potential just two race meetings into their respective maiden campaigns in Formula 4.The third race of the weekend was the undoubted highlight for both competitors, Albert racing to an excellent sixth place finish – a mere 0.3 seconds behind reigning Protyre Formula Renault Champion Chris Middlehurst – and Venezuelan youngster Borrelli taking an equally superb seventh.Albert, especially, delivered an eye-catching turnaround of fortunes after missing qualifying and the first race due to a hefty excursion in practice which resulted in significant damage to his car. Thanks to a monumental effort by the SWR mechanics, he was able to take part in the second day’s action and showcased obvious star qualities.“Everyone at the team is really looking forward to Snetterton and there’s a lot of confidence and belief we can be back in the podium battle”, said SWR team owner Sean Walkinshaw, “Brands didn’t go as well as Nicolas had hoped, and he obviously had to miss race three, but he started the season strongly at Silverstone with his first podium and we’re sure normal service will be resumed.“Jordan was hugely impressive on the Sunday at Brands, to bounce back as well as he did really was outstanding – finishing sixth in race three was fantastic. Diego is getting faster and more consistent with each outing and, like Jordan, he really came on strong in the final Brands Hatch race. We were quick in the pre-season test at Snetterton so see no reason why we shouldn’t be again.”Importantly, the SWR trio will enjoy some significant preparation during the build-up to next weekend’s event. Albert will run on Tuesday, 17th June, and Wednesday, 18th June, with Borrelli joining the British driver for the second day. Beer will then arrive back in the UK in readiness for the unofficial pre-race test day on Friday, 20th June, which all three team-mates will contest.Qualifying at Snetterton will take place at 10.45 on Saturday, 21st June, with round seven of the season set to follow at 15.10. On Sunday, 22nd June, round eight will get underway at 10.55 with round nine following at 15.35.
