Caterham Racing Academy driver Seb Morris says he’s all set for a reinvigorated push for race wins and consistent podium finishes when the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup resumes at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium this coming Friday, 25th July.Running as part of the support package to the prestigious Total 24 Hours of Spa endurance race, rounds eight and nine mark the halfway point of the Marford teenager’s maiden campaign at European level – a season which has already delivered victory on home soil at Silverstone.Heading into the Spa weekend sixth overall in the NEC driver standings, 18-year-old Seb has firmly cemented his place as one of the fastest drivers in the championship but the campaign hasn’t been without its dramas. With great tenacity, though, the Fortec Motorsport driver has ensured six points finishes from the seven races contested so far.After a well-deserved rest from NEC action over the past five weeks, since the previous event at Hockenheim in Germany, the Jack Wills ‘Young Briton’, TAG Heuer ambassador and Elite Cymru racer is relishing the prospect of being back behind the wheel of his FR 2.0 just a few days from now.“We haven’t had any time in the car at all since the last round, there weren’t any relevant test days available so I’ve just taken the time to relax and do some light training ahead of Spa”, commented Seb, “It’s been a time for reflection really on the season so far, looking at where we need to improve before going into the second half of the year with a much more attacking approach.“There have been one or two errors so far which have unfortunately led to us being in the wrong place at the wrong time, such as a bad qualifying or a bad start. You’ve got to be learn from that though, be honest with yourself where you’ve made mistakes and then move forward and improve.”At each of the tracks visited so far this season, Monza in Italy, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit and Germany’s Hockenheim, Seb has delivered expected front-running performance and the same is almost certain to be the case at Spa – outside factors aside of course.“Really, we just need to keep our nose clean and make sure we qualify well”, added the Welsh sportsman, “We’re only 37 points back in the championship, it can still be done from there so we’ll be pushing as hard as possible at Spa to take away some big points and results.”Due to the timetable requirements of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, this weekend’s Formula Renault 2.0 NEC action will begin a day earlier than usual with free practice on Thursday, 24th July.
