Spa Adventure Next For Double R's F3 Rookies Chang and Kaminsky

Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship rookies Andy Chang and Camren Kaminsky will embark on their biggest challenge of the season a few days from now when rounds 10, 11 and 12 take place at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the sole overseas event of the 2014 campaign.Heading to the world-famous track fourth and fifth in the title race respectively, the Double R Racing drivers have each shown a great deal of promise up to now and travel to mainland Europe aiming to battle for suitably strong results on Friday, 25th July, and Saturday, 26th July.Chang, of course, has achieved podium silverware on four occasions during his maiden season in the championship and will arrive at Spa off the back of his best finish of the campaign last time out when he finished second during round nine at Snetterton in Norfolk.Clearly, the Macanese 17-year-old will be determined to add to his tally when British F3 supports the prestigious Total 24 Hours of Spa at the weekend – the event marking the exact halfway point of the 2014 championship.American driver Kaminsky is still searching for his breakthrough podium finish, but a consistent debut campaign at Formula 3 level has ensured a healthy haul of points each race weekend, his best finish so far being fourth place.During the most recent event at Snetterton, the 20-year-old led a British F3 race for the first time during round eight but was robbed of a potential victory just three laps from the finish following contact to his Dallara-Mercedes. Bitterly disappointed, Kaminsky bounced back in the standalone Zandvoort Masters invitational race a fortnight ago where he bested team-mate Chang with ninth position. Focusing again on his British F3 campaign, the first year racer will be challenging hard to try and repeat his Snetterton heroics.“It’s going to be a big weekend for Andy and Camren”, said Double R team principal Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt, “It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain experience at one of the world’s best tracks and, with a few more cars expected on the grid, the competition will step up a notch as well – that can only be beneficial for them.“More often than not the weather can play a major role at Spa but, whatever the conditions, I’m confident they’ll both be competitive. It’d be fantastic to see Camren take his first podium next weekend, he was close at Snetterton, and we obviously hope to see Andy win more trophies too.”Following two free practice sessions at Spa on Thursday, 24th July, qualifying will commence at 09.05 (local time) on Friday, 25th July, with round 10 beginning at 12.45 (local time) and round 11 taking place at 17.30 (local time). On Saturday, 26th July, round 12 will get underway at 09.45 (local time).Provisional 2014 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship Standings (after Rd9):4th Andy Chang, 87pts; 5th Camren Kaminsky, 72pts
