Robertson Ready To Build Ginetta GT4 Points Lead At Snetterton‏

Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk hosts the resumption of the 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup next weekend, 2nd/3rd August, where championship leader Charlie Robertson is confident of adding to the points lead he reclaimed before the mid-summer break.Having recharged his batteries during the category’s month-long sojourn, the HHC Motorsport racer heads into the second half of the season on top of the driver standings by a healthy 29-point margin and is determined to further increase that advantage during the Snetterton triple-header.Although he wasn’t quite able to add to the four race victories he has so far taken in 2014 last time out at Croft in North Yorkshire, Charlie still scored heavily as erstwhile championship leader Andrew Watson hit difficulties. With a brace of second place finishes in rounds 12 and 13, taking his podium tally for the year to eight, Whyteleafe-based Charlie added a top six result in the last of the Croft encounters which, in itself, was a strong result – tyre wear requiring a sensible and well-judged race of consolidation.Unsurprisingly, considering his position in the title battle, the Investigo and Blackstar-supported driver has the most rostrum finishes and wins of any competitor heading into the sixth event of the season and he aims to get the second half of the campaign off to a suitably strong start.“It feels like such a long time since we were racing at Croft, I can’t wait for the season to get going again next weekend and hopefully we can maintain our place at the top of the championship”, said the MSA Academy racer, “We’ve had a really strong year so far, things haven’t always gone totally to plan but on balance it’s been a great season. We’re right where we need to be in the title race.”During the lengthy break from Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup action, the Scottish teenager didn’t completely step back from competitive racing with participation in the prestigious Henry Surtees Foundation Brooklands Team Karting Challenge at Mercedes-Benz World.Claiming a richly deserved victory as part of the Team LNT Ginetta squad, as well as helping to raise vital funds for a variety of outstanding charities, Charlie was thrilled to have been part of the superb event organised by John Surtees OBE in memory of his late son, successful single-seater racer Henry.Since then, Charlie has been back behind the wheel of his HHC-run Ginetta G55 this week with a test outing at Snetterton. Very happy with the pace and consistency produced over two days at the East Anglian track, confidence is justifiably high ahead of next weekend’s races.“We’re really pleased with the set-up we’ve been working on for Snetterton, this week’s test went well – the pace looks good and the car felt great, as it always does”, he commented, “There’s a great feeling in the team and we’re confident we should be as competitive as ever next weekend.”Following officially timed pre-event testing at Snetterton next Friday, 1st August, Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup qualifying will start at 10.50 on Saturday, 2nd August, with round 15 getting underway at 16.05. On Sunday, 3rd August, round 16 is timetabled to begin at 09.50 with round 17 – which will be screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD – scheduled for 16.05.Provisional 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Driver Standings (after Rd14):1st Charlie Robertson, 355pts
